COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly Volleyball freshman right side attacker Candyce Alexander has been named second team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
The announcement was made Dec. 1 by NJCAA officials in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“I’m extremely proud of Candyce being named an NJCAA second team All-American.  Her hard work, competitive spirit and contributions to the Grizzly Volleyball program this season have been rewarded with this honor,” Grizzly Volleyball Head Coach Paula Wiedemann said.

Alexander, a 5-foot, 10-inch right side hitter from Bedford, Texas, played in 121 games for the Grizzlies this season collecting 277 kills, 239 digs, 54 blocks and 28 aces.  She had an attacking percnetage of .176.

“This is a tremendous honor for Candyce,” Wiedemann.  “She and her teammates put us back in the national rankings this year, and our region, as a whole, was the strongest its ever been, with all three teams being ranked in the top 20.  Candyce was a key player in our team’s success and one of the top two players in our region.

Throughout the season, she continued to prove she was one of the best right side attackers in the country by being named to three all-tournament teams, as well as first team All-Region 16.”
