Grizzlies sign post player from Conn.
WEST PLAINS, Mo. – The coaching staff of the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly Basketball team have signed their first new post player to the 2012-13 squad.
He is Aleinocov (Al) Azulphar, a 6-foot, 11-inch forward from Norwalk, Conn.
“We saw a need for a post player with some true size, and we have found that in Al,” Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Yancey Walker said. “His length will help a lot defensively. He has good timing as a shot blocker and a soft touch from 15 feet. Al will be hard for other teams to contend with defensively due to his size and skill level.”
As a senior, Azulphar averaged 11 points, seven rebounds and three blocks for Brien McMahon High School Senators in Norwalk.
Azulphar joins 6-foot, 5-inch guard Desmond Buerge of Carthage, Mo.; 6-foot, 1-inch guard Wesley Staten of Sioux City, Iowa; 6-foot, 5-inch guard Arroyo Edwards of Milwaukee, Wis.; 6-foot, 5-inch guard Jonathan Tshibuy of Montreal, Canada; 6-foot, 3-inch guard Devaugntah Williams of Canton, Ohio; and 6-foot, 3-inch guard Delvonte Pierre of Lawton, Okla., for the Grizzlies’ freshman class next season.
