Grizzly Volleyball team adds new recruit for 2012 season

Thursday, June 21, 2012

WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly Volleyball Head Coach Paula Wiedemann today announced another freshman recruit for the 2012 season.

She is Grace Kiely, a 5-foot, 7-inch libero from Lafayette High School in Wildwood, Mo., just outside of St. Louis.

“We are excited about the addition of Grace Kiely to our team,” Grizzly Volleyball Head Coach Paula Wiedemann said.  “She is an outstanding libero coming from a state championship team, and she has the passion for what it takes to make championship teams – defense and passing.  Her ability to help improve our overall ball control will make us better both offensively and defensively.”

Kiely, a senior captain, helped guide her Lancer team to a 33-6 record and the 2012 Missouri Class 4A State Championship this past season, earning all-district and St. Louis Suburban West All-Conference player honors along the way.  She led the team in aces, service attempts and service points as a senior.

Kiely joins three players from the state of California as part of the Grizzlies’ freshman recruiting class for 2012.  They are Danielle “Nella” Ioramo, a 6-foot, 2-inch middle/outside attacker from Union City, Calif.; Torika Ramulo, a 5-foot, 11-inch middle attacker from Palo Alto, Calif.; and Francesca “Chessie” Santeramo, a 5-foot, 6-inch setter/libero from Fremont, Calif.
