WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Administrators from 18 area school districts in Missouri and Arkansas are registered to attend Teacher Placement Day Friday, March 7, at Gohn Hall on the campus of Missouri State University-West Plains.
The event is being hosted by Missouri State-West Plains’ career services office and Missouri State University’s Teacher Education Completion Program. It is designed to give students in their final semester of an education program and education program graduates the opportunity to meet with administrators from school districts in Missouri State-West Plains’ seven county primary service area, as well as with administrators from north-central Arkansas school districts, and apply for positions opening in those districts, organizers said.
Participating school districts from Missouri include Alton, Bakersfield, Cabool, Couch, Fair View, Gainesville, Glenwood, Junction Hill, Koshkonong, Mountain Grove, Mtn. View-Birch Tree Liberty, Norwood, Richards, Rolla, Salem, Waynesville and West Plains. The Mountain Home, Ark., school district also will have representatives at the event, organizers said.
The interview and application session is set for 9 to 11 a.m. in Gohn Hall and is free, organizers said. “This session is not only open to Missouri State University education program students and graduates, but also students and graduates of education programs at Southwest Baptist University, Drury University, Evangel University and College of the Ozarks,” said Career Services Assistant Coordinator Alice Smith.
It’s not too late for other districts in the area to register to participate, Smith stressed. Administrators can call Smith at 417-255-7230 to reserve their space.
