WITH THE CLIP OF THE SCISSORS, officials with Missouri State University-West Plains, the Garnett Library and the Friends of the Garnett Library officially opened the library’s new compact shelving section during a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the West Plains Area Chamber of Commerce. Thanks to Friends’ fund-raising efforts, university officials recently replaced a section of regular shelving with the modern system of shelving for more efficient storage and easy access to reference, periodical and archival materials. Installation of the mobile compact shelving is the first phase of changing the library from a storehouse of information to a place of access and interaction, university officials said.
