WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly Volleyball standout Torika Baleilekutu will be taking her talents to the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tenn., beginning this fall.
Baleilekutu, a 5-foot, 11-inch middle/right side attacker from Palo Alto, Calif., signed a national letter of intent this week to play for the Tigers, an NCAA Division I school in the American Athletic Conference.
“We are very excited for Torika to continue her education and playing career at the University of Memphis next fall,” Grizzly Volleyball Head Coach Paula Wiedemann said. “She has worked hard to show that she can play big on the court, and she has proven to be an excellent student in the classroom. She will have the opportunity to be a leader in both areas at Memphis. She will continue to do great things and will represent Missouri State-West Plains and Grizzly Volleyball very well at her new school.”
This past season, Baleilekutu recorded 260 kills (2.24 per game), 137 digs (1.18 per game), 80 blocks (.69 per game) and 331.5 total points. She earned National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 16 first team honors in 2012 and 2013.
