TORI PORTER, a freshman from Williamsville, Mo., placed sixth in the future business educator competition at the 2014 Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) National Leadership Conference June 24-27 in Nashville, Tenn. The preliminary round of the competition consisted of an interview based on the student’s application, resumé and letter of reference for a teaching position. In the final round, Porter presented a classroom plan that was prepared in advance. The award was part of a comprehensive national competitive events program sponsored by FBLA-PBL that recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related fields. In addition to the competition, Porter took part in a variety of educational workshops, visited an information-packed exhibit hall and attended motivational presentations on a broad range of business topics.
