DALLAS, Texas – Several students and faculty members in the child and family development program at Missouri State University-West Plains attended the 2014 National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Conference in Dallas, Texas.
Held in November, the NAEYC annual conference is the world’s largest conference for professionals in the field of early childhood education, according to Dr. Renee Moore, professor of child and family development at Missouri State-West Plains. The event includes hundreds of workshops, seminars and presentations on the latest research and information on early childhood development. Participants also enjoy access to over 1,000 booths displaying the best materials, services and ideas available from the top toy and equipment manufacturers around the world, she said.
Students attending were impressed by the information they received. “The seminars were the best part because the presenters were very knowledgeable and enjoyable to listen to,” said Ava Anderson, West Plains. “This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I am so thankful for everything done to make the trip happen.”
“The conferences that I chose were very informational, and I loved all of the free stuff the vendors handed out,” added Cindy Hendrix, West Plains. “Without the annual fund, I wouldn’t have been able to go.”
“The trip would not have been possible without support for student travel and lodging paid by the university’s annual fund,” Moore explained.
