WEST PLAINS, Mo. – The Imaginary Theatre Company of the St. Louis Repertory Theatre will bring its production of “Goldilocks” to the West Plains Civic Center stage for a 7 p.m. performance Oct. 23.
Presented by Missouri State University-West Plains’ University/Community Programs (U/CP) Department, the performance is being made possible with support from the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
Tickets are $8 each for adults. Children age 13 and under, and Missouri State-West Plains students with a valid BearPass ID, will be admitted free.
In this fun new musical take on the well-known tale, Goldilocks learns some much-needed lessons about friendship and acceptance. Freddy, a bear with a penchant for science and adventure, likes to spend his time exploring the forest with his friends, at least when they’re not avoiding the troublemaking Goldilocks. She has a habit of tormenting all the woodland creatures, but Freddy and his friends just might have an idea for an experiment that will change her ways.
“The Imaginary Theatre of St. Louis uses very basic props and costumes that encourage imagination, as their name implies,” said Jennifer Moore, coordinator of U/CP theater and events. “These performances are very special, since the actors take time after the program to engage directly with the children.”
The U/CP Department also will offer two additional daytime performances exclusively for area schoolchildren earlier that day. For more information about these opportunities, call the U/CP office at 417-255-7966.
