WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Two Missouri State University-West Plains faculty members who hail from areas outside the boundaries of the United States will discuss their road to West Plains at the Friends of the Garnett Library monthly luncheon meeting Friday, Feb. 12, on the Missouri State-West Plains campus.
Dr. Joseph “Kip” Rugutt, associate professor of chemistry from Kenya, and Ms. Ana Estrella, instructor of biology and biomedical sciences from Puerto Rico, will talk about the circumstances that brought them from their respective homelands to the Ozarks in a presentation entitled “Journey from Puerto Rico and Kenya to West Plains,” organizers said. Although their journeys are unique, they both bring an enthusiastic desire to share their knowlege and global perspectives to students at the university, organizers added.
The luncheon and meeting will take place from noon to 1 p.m. in rooms 104 and 105 on the lower level of the Lybyer Technology Center. Parking is available in the lot off Cass Avenue on the north side of the building.
Cost of the meal is $10, payable at the door. Those wishing to eat are asked to make a reservation by calling 417-255-7940 or emailing FriendsofGarnettLibrary@MissouriState.edu by Tuesday, Feb. 9.
