WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Regal Beloit of America and Burton Creek Medical Complex are joining several other area businesses and individuals in showing their support for Missouri State University-West Plains by sponsoring the university’s “True Blue” Annual Auction and Casino Night April 8 at the West Plains Civic Center.
Proceeds from the event, in its 22nd year, will be used to help fund the creation of the Carol Silvey Student Union, which will be housed in Hass-Darr Hall (the local post office building) after it is renovated.
“The event is sure to be fun, as we’ve added casino gaming for those who attend,” said Development Board President Sonja Stauffer. “Grizz Bucks will be the gaming money, which fits with the True Blue theme. I’m personally excited that the proceeds will be going toward a student union, which will benefit students for many years to come.”
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and auction activities will get underway at 6. Tickets are $50 per person, or $500 will reserve table seating and tickets for eight, organizers said. With “True Blue” as the theme, guests are being asked to wear blue.
“This year’s auction will be unlike any event West Plains has ever seen,” said Missouri State-West Plains Director of Development Joe Kammerer. “We are excited to have gaming as an option for our guests. All winnings will benefit the Carol Silvey Student Union. The more you win, the more our students win. The more our students win, the more the community wins. It’s a WIN-WIN for everyone!”
One of the highlighted items of the annual auction in recent years has been jewelry provided Carter’s Jewel Chest in Mountain Home, Arkansas, and this year is no exception. Officials have offered a Vahan diamond bracelet valued at more than $2,000. This is the fifth consecutive year Carter’s has donated jewelry for the auction.
