WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Several area high school senior boys and girls basketball players will take the court one more time Saturday afternoon, March 26, in the 11th annual Grizzly All-Star Classic hosted by the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly Basketball program.
The girls game will get underway at 2 p.m., and the boys game will follow at 4. Both games will be played in the West Plains Civic Center arena. Three-point and slam dunk contests will take place between the games.
Players from schools in Alton, Fordland, Houston, Koshkonong, Thayer, West Plains, Willow Springs, Ava, Bakersfield, Mansfield, Naylor, Norwood, Cabool, Eminence, Hartville, Mtn. View, Mansfield, Winona, Rogersville, Mountain Grove, Salem, Seymour, Van Buren and Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Yancey Walker said.
Coaches for the girls teams will be Shannon Crain of Norwood and Brent Kell of Houston. Coaching the boys teams will be Rod Gorman of Logan-Rogersville and Mike Mallow of Willow Springs.
“We are excited to have these area seniors play their last game in their high school uniforms,” Walker said. “It is always special to see different players from different high schools come together to compete with or against each other while showcasing their skills in a manner they might not have been able to in high school.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children age 12 and under.
