Date to Withdraw Extended to May 9
Message from the Dean of Academic Affairs:
Due to circumstances caused by the flooding, we have extended the deadline for dropping a course in the Spring 2017 semester to 11:59 pm, Tuesday, May 9. In all cases in which you are contemplating dropping a course, please visit with the instructor before making the drop. You should also visit with your academic advisor to determine the overall consequences/benefits of dropping a course, such as effects on financial aid, ability to graduate, etc.
With the possible hardships caused by the floods on students, I have encouraged faculty to provide a variety of options in working with you to better ensure your success in their course. Again, it is important that you communicate with each of your instructors during this time right before the end of the semester.
An email was sent to all students Tuesday, May 2, outlining a multitude of steps students should take here at the end of the semester. Here is the link to that message for your reference.
Grizzly Lofts FAQs
What are our housing options?
Alternative housing solutions have been established for residents of the Grizzly Lofts who have not already made other arrangements. If you have questions, call 417-255-7233.
When can we get our personal belongings?
Due to the water damage, remaining items need to be removed as soon as possible. Bring plastic tubs and bags since some items will be wet and in need of cleaning. All residents who can come this week while classes are canceled should come and remove their belongings. When you arrive at the Lofts, housing staff members will be there to assist you.
All residents should be moved out of the Grizzly Lofts at the close of business Monday, May 8. If you are unable to come before May 8 to remove your items, use your university email account to send an email to AngelaTotty@MissouriState.edugiving permission for someone else to remove the items for you. Please give the name of the person who will be removing the items and a phone number for that individual.
If you have any questions, call 417-255-7255.
Is there a place to store property if we can’t move it all out yet?
Grizzly Lofts residents who are unable to move their property to an alternative housing location will be given a secure space in the Rec Center to store large items left undamaged by the flood.
All items must be picked up at the Rec Center by May 19, 2017. Items remaining will be considered unclaimed property and handled according to the unclaimed property policy by being either donated or destroyed. Please communicate with Jared Cates or Stanley Mugeki if additional time is needed.
Am I going to have to pay for room and board for the rest of this semester?
Students will be reimbursed or their account will be credited for the cost of the Grizzly Lofts housing contract from April 29 to the end of the semester.
Where will I get my meals?
Meals for Grizzly Loft students will be served at the Putnam Student Center for the remainder of the semester.
How can I get my mail?
The Post Office will hold all mail for Grizzly Loft residents at the US Post Office downtown. Residents still in West Plains can pick up mail there for the time being. All students should complete a change of address form with the US Postal Service to forward their mail to the address they will move to when the semester is complete.
For any additional questions, call 417-255-7233.
