WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Missouri State University announced in August that MSU-West Plains Chancellor Drew A. Bennett will retire at the end of the spring 2018 semester.
Matt Morris, vice president for administrative services on the Springfield campus, will lead the search committee to replace Bennett.
Missouri State President Clif Smart announced the members of the search committee. They are:

•Josh Cotter, West Plains community
•Kay Garrett, West Plains community/West Plains faculty emeritus
•Emily Gibson, West Plains community
•Jennifer Moore, West Plains community
•Jill Patterson, System Title IX officer
•Rajiv Thakur, West Plains faculty
•Angela Totty, West Plains staff
•Jerry Trick, West Plains faculty
•Madison Wiehe, West Plains student
•Kelly Wood, Springfield faculty
This will be a national search aided by a reputable search firm, which will be announced.
Search timeline
An online survey, www.wp.missouristate.edu/chancellor-search, is available to gather input in the selection of the new chancellor. All interested parties are invited to complete the survey. The survey will close on Oct. 16.
President Smart will meet with the search committee on Oct. 25 on the West Plains campus. He will share his vision and charge for the search with the committee.
Following the search committee meeting, the West Plains campus and community are invited to a town hall meeting from 2 to 3 p.m. in Melton Hall Room112.
Based on results from the survey, Smart will share attributes the campus and community would like to see in the next chancellor.
Smart said he hopes to have a new chancellor selected by spring 2018.
