WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Seven students and faculty adviser Dasha Russell with the Missouri State University-West Plains Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) student business organization recently attended the Show-Me Leadership Conference Oct. 14 at Silver Dollar City in Branson.
Joining Russell at the event, which welcomed students from collegiate PBL and high school Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapters from across the state of Missouri, were Carson Abernatha, Spokane; Michaela Schriewer, Wentzville; Jordan Washburn, Plato; Kelsey Clark, Conway; Shelby Hayworth, Lebanon; and Drew Bledsoe and Darian Williams, both of West Plains.
Those attending enjoyed a presentation on hospitality management and marketing in a theme park setting, Russell said, as well as competitions in a variety of business-related disciplines.
Three Missouri State-West Plains students placed in those competitions. They included Hayworth, first place in visual design; and Williams and Bledsoe, first and second place, respectively, in global awareness.
Former Missouri State-West Plains student, Derek McGinnis, West Plains, also took first place in presentation skills. McGinnis transferred to Missouri State University in Springfield this fall, Russell said. McGinnis is currently serving as vice president of communications for the Missouri PBL, she added.
