What made you decide to specialize in mathematics?
I have always had an aptitude for mathematics–I like it, it makes sense, I like finding the answer!
What was your favorite course in college and why?
Comparative Governments–I learned how to really study in this course.
What do you find most rewarding about teaching?
The opportunity to help others pursue their dreams, achieve their goals, and make their mark in society.
What advice would you give current students or prospective students?
Enjoy your educational experience; don’t give up when it gets hard; persevere.
What would you say to a student interesting in pursuing a career in mathematics?
We need high school math teachers–you can earn almost 100 credit hours toward your Bachelor of Science in Education in Secondary Mathematics right here at Missouri State-West Plains.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Being with my family, fishing, sports, hiking, gardening and reading.
