Missouri State University-West Plains will offer a new pre-employment training program beginning March 18 at the Greater Ozarks Center for Advanced Technology (GOCAT), 395 Jackie Garrett Ave., in West Plains.
“The Work 360…. Elevate Your Success With a 360° View” is 40-hour interactive skills academy that teaches participants resumé writing, interview skills, proper work etiquette and other soft skills.
The non-credit program meets for five consecutive eight-hour days and awards a certificate of completion.
“Work 360 was born out of numerous conversations with local industry regarding workforce trends within their businesses when interviewing candidates,” said Sheila Barton, workforce development manager at GOCAT. “This program helps address those needs in creating a more prepared job seeker.”
Students will participate in a career exploration assessment to help provide a career pathway for success.
They also will take the ACT WorkKeys®, which will measure foundational and workplace skills required for success and high performance in the workplace. Those who successfully complete the assessment will earn the WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate®.
