My favorite thing about Missouri State University-West Plains would have to be the experiences I have gained for the future.
What has been your favorite course?
My favorite course has been either Art in Context with Nathan Ferree or public speaking. I enjoyed Art in Context because you could really tell that Ferree not only loves art, but loves to teach it which makes you get more into the work being presented to you. I enjoyed public speaking because before I came to this institution I was very shy, so speaking to an audience was difficult for me. Through this class it thought me not to be so nervous when speaking to people. Now I love presenting when I get the chance!

I chose my major after deciding to further my education to be in a position to help people or students. After talking to some faculty from Missouri State University-West Plains, I decided I wanted to work in higher education in the academic affairs side of things so I thought a degree in psychology would help me not only understand people better, but how to help students in the future.
What have you learned the Psychology Department that will help you succeed in your education, career or life?
I have learned a lot from the psychology department. The biggest thing I have learned would be that I am not pigeonholed into counseling because there are so many things that can come from a psychology degree.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation I will go on to complete a master’s degree in Academic Affairs though Missouri State University so eventually I can work in higher education helping students how faculty and staff once helped me.
