Grizzlies sign point guard from Ky.
WEST PLAINS, Mo. – The coaching staff of the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly Basketball team have added a point guard to the 2012-13 squad.
He is 6-foot, 2-inch Desmond Dorsey from Jeffersontown High School in Louisville, Ky.
“Desmond will be a great addition to our backcourt,” Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Yancey Walker said. “He comes from one of the most basketball rich states in the country, and he has earned many accolades along the way.”
As a senior, Dorsey averaged 14 points, seven rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. He earned all-state honorable mention recognition his junior and senior seasons, all-region team honors his senior year, and was named to the King of the Bluegrass all-tournament team during his junior season.
ESPN included Dorsey in its top 20 list of Kentucky high school players, describing him as one of the state’s “most lethal scorers.”
“Desmond has that special ability to score while being able to distribute the ball offensively, and that is exciting to us,” Walker said.
Dorsey joins 6-foot, 5-inch guard Desmond Buerge of Carthage, Mo.; 6-foot, 1-inch guard Wesley Staten of Sioux City, Iowa; 6-foot, 5-inch guard Arroyo Edwards of Milwaukee, Wis.; 6-foot, 5-inch guard Jonathan Tshibuy of Montreal, Canada; 6-foot, 3-inch guard Devaugntah Williams of Canton, Ohio; 6-foot, 3-inch guard Delvonte Pierre of Lawton, Okla.; and 6-foot, 11-inch forward Aleinocov Azulphar of Norwalk, Conn., for the Grizzlies’ freshman class next season.
