Garnett Library’s resources available to public, too

YOU, TOO, CAN READ THESE and other books at Missouri State University-West Plains’ Garnett Library. The facility’s books, periodicals, reference materials, videos and DVDs are available to any member of the community, not just the university’s faculty, staff and students, and members of the Friends of the Garnett Library encourage everyone to take advantage of this additional community resource. Friends is beginning another year of fund-raising activities and events to support the library, with the theme “Catching Up With the Future of Libraries,” and everyone is invited to join them as they learn how libraries are changing from a storehouse of information to a place to access information. The best way area residents can keep the library growing and meeting 21st century needs is joining Friends. Details can be found at wp.missouristate.edu/development/FriendsMembership.htm or from any current Friends member. The group meets monthly, and the first meeting of the new year is noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 21 in Lybyer Technology Center Rooms 104-105. Cost of the meal is $9. RSVP by calling 417-255-7940 or e-mailing FriendsOfGarnettLibrary@missouristate.edu by Sept. 18. Everyone is invited to attend.
