WEST PLAINS, Mo. – “From Collection to Connection” will be the topic of the next Friends of the Garnett Library monthly luncheon meeting Friday, April 11, on the Missouri State University-West Plains campus.
The luncheon and meeting will take place from noon to 1 p.m. at the Garnett Library, 304 W. Trish Knight St. Parking will be available in the lot off Trish Knigh Street between the library and Looney Hall.
Sylvia Kuhlmeier, director of library services, will discuss the library’s “From Collection to Connection” project. She will give a visual review and describe how tons of materials were moved and a modern system of shelving was installed for efficient storage and easy access to reference, periodical and archival materials. Installation of the mobile compact shelving is the first phase of changing the library from a storehouse of information to a place of access and interaction, she explained.
Cost of the meal is $10 payable at the door. Those wishing to eat are asked to make a reservation by calling 417-255-7940 or e-mailing FriendsofGarnettLibrary@MissouriState.edu by Tuesday, April 8.
Immediately following the meeting, library officials will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. to celebrate the completion of the compact shelving project. Refreshments will be served.
