WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Magician/comedian/musican Brian Miller will bring his talents to the West Plains Civic Center theater stage for a performance at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, that is being sponsored by Missouri State University-West Plains’ University/Community Programs (U/CP) Department and the Student Government Association (SGA).
General admission tickets are $8 each and available at the civic center box office, 110 St. Louis St., between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays. University students will receive free admission with their BearPass ID.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Miller is a nationally touring variety artist who now calls Connecticut home. His act combines magic, comedy, mind reading, puzzles, games and live music into a one-man, vaudeville-inspired variety show, organizers said.
He maintains a schedule of more than 250 events per year and has been recognized in both 2013 and 2014 as one of America’s “Best Small Venue Performers” by Campus Activities Magazine.
In addition, Miller has authored four instructional e-books of his own sleight-of-hand creations and a manuscript of magic theory that are sold to magicians all over the world. He provides magic instruction for all ages and experience levels through his Miller’s Magic Guild. He also writes and records original acoustic pop and rock music as part of the group Escher’s Enigma. His music can be heard on Reverb Nation.
“We are excited to bring a variety artist such as Brian Miller to the stage for our students and the community to experience,” said U/CP Theater and Events Coordinator Emily Gibson. “We always have a lot of enthusiasm for magicians, which this show will bring along with the bonus of comedy, music, mind reading and more. This will be a fun night for the audience to expect the unexpected.”
