WEST PLAINS, Mo. – “ALMOST EVERYTHING WE DO well should raise our profile,” Missouri State University System President Clif Smart said today in his annual State of the University address at the West Plains Civic Center theater.
Over 100 students, faculty, staff and community members attended the event to hear Smart outline several goals for the upcoming year that, if successful, should raise the university’s profile.
Among them are keeping costs affordable while offering rigorous programs, continue enrollment growth, increase student retention rates, improve facilities, develop new academic programs to meet the needs of the area’s workforce, support faculty research and develop a strategic plan for future long-term growth.
He also praised officials at the West Plains campus for working hard to increase enrollment this fall, pointing out he believes Missouri State-West Plains was the only two-year school in the state to see such an increase.
