WEST PLAINS, Mo. – The Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC), hosted by Missouri State University-West Plains, will sponsor the workshop “Introduction to International Trade – Export Management and Compliance” on Feb. 24.
The workshop takes place 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Redbud Room at the West Plains Civic Center, 110 Saint Louis St. Cost of the workshop $20; a reduced rate of $10 will be offered to university students and members of the West Plains Area Chamber of Commerce and Ozarks Small Business Incubator (OzSBI). To register, visit http://sbtdc.eventbrite.com.
The workshop will teach participants the basics of U.S. export controls under the Export Administration Regulations and be introduced to the U.S. federal agencies and their respective jurisdictions. Decision tree tools and management resources will be provided. The two-hour workshop is the third part of a three-part international trade series, according to SBTDC Coordinator Bronwen Madden. Although not required, attendance at all three sessions is encouraged, she added.
The SBTDC provides assistance to individuals who want to start or run their own small businesses. SBTDC staff work with Missouri entrepreneurs and small businesses that are for-profit (not a non-profit charitable or educational organization). “Whether you are currently in business or thinking about starting a business, the SBTDC can assist you in your venture,” Madden said
The West Plains SBTDC serves entrepreneurs in seven counties across the region: Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon, Texas and Wright. Since it is funded in part through the Small Business Administration, virtually all of the services are free.
