WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Kaili Simmons, a sophomore outside hitter/defensive specialist with the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly Volleyball team, will continue her collegiate career at Western Illinois University in Macomb.
Simmons, a graduate of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, High School, recently signed paperwork to transfer to Western Illinois and play for the Fighting Leathernecks, an NCAA Division I school competing in The Summit League.
“We are very excited for Kaili to continue her education and playing career at Western Illinois University next fall,” said Grizzly Volleyball Head Coach Paula Wiedemann. “She has worked extremely hard on the court, and she has proven to be an excellent student in the classroom. She will have the opportunity to be a leader in both areas at Western Illinois.”
In 249 sets played, Simmons recorded 129 kills, 24 service aces, 615 digs and a passing rating of 2.40 on 1,900 attempts. She was an honorable mention All-Region 16 team selection this past season and received the the Grizzly Leadership/Captains Award and the Marvin Wheeler Academic Excellence Award at this year’s Grizzly Sports Banquet.
“Her work ethic and leadership make her the type of player every coach wants on his or her team,” Wiedemann said. “She will continue to do great things and will represent Missouri State-West Plains and Grizzly Volleyball very well at her new school.”
