MIRANDA AXELSEN, Alton, and Jake Phillips, Forsyth, departed Monday, Feb. 13, for China to study and serve internships at Missouri State University-West Plains’ branch campus at Liaoning Normal University in Dalian. For the next four months, they will join Chinese students in nine credit hours of classwork and work in the campus’ writing center as English tutors. Before starting classes on Feb. 20, the students will spend a few days in Beijing and tour the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. They will return June 15. University officials said this study abroad program is “an amazing opportunity” for any student who wishes to learn more about the world.
