WEST PLAINS, Mo.– Scott Schneider, West Plains, began his duties today, July 2, as the new director of business and support services at Missouri State University-West Plains.
Schneider, who comes to the university after spending nearly 10 years with West Plains Bank and Trust Company, replaces Matt Morris, who was recently named associate vice president for administrative and information services at Missouri State University in Springfield.
“We are very excited to have Scott fill this important position,” said Missouri State-West Plains Chancellor Drew Bennett. “His experience, education and skill set will be of great benefit to Missouri State-West Plains. The success of our campus is a team effort, and we look forward to his contributions as we continue to move forward.”
As director, Schneider will oversee all business office and physical plant operations, including planning and coordinating business services, mail services, purchasing and contracting, motor pool operations, maintenance and repair of campus infrastructure, and acquisition and divestment of property.
“I am excited about filling the role of director of business and support services,” Schneider said. “The university has great teams in the business and support services areas that provide critical services to every aspect of university life. I look forward to working with these teams and being a part of their continued tradition of outstanding performance.
“Missouri State-West Plains will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2013, a great milestone in its existence,” he continued. “I want to further the success of the university in every way possible.”
Schneider received a bachelor of science degree in geology and geophysics from the University of Missouri-Rolla, now Missouri University of Science & Technology, in 1994 and a master’s in business administration from Missouri State University in 2006.
His work experience includes two-and-a-half years as a geologist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, three years as an operations mine geologist with The Doe Run Company, and two years as an environmental geologist with Hanford Nuclear Services, Inc.
He was hired by West Plains Bank and Trust Company as a network administrator in January 2003, a position he held until he was named bank vice president and chief operations officer in January 2006. In January 2008, he became vice president and director of technology at West Plains Bank and Trust Company.
Schneider has served as a per course instructor for Missouri State-West Plains since August 2009, teaching Computers for Learning (CIS 101), the introductory computer class offered by the university. He also served as a military policeman in the Army National Guard from 1987-1991 and was deployed to the Middle East as part of Operation Desert Storm.
He is a registered geologist with the state of Missouri and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society for business. He was elected to the Howell Valley School Board in 2008 and currently serves as the board’s secretary.
