MISSOURI STATE UNIVERSITY-West Plains Associate Professor of English Anthony Priest recently donated 20 poetry books, autographed by their authors, from his personal collection to the Garnett Library. He hopes the collection, which includes works by Pulitzer Prize-winning authors, National Book Award for Poetry winners and a former poet laureate, inspiries student writers and gives them insight into the types of writing faculty enjoy. Priest holds a copy of Sonata Mulattica: A Life in Five Movements and a Short Play by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and former United States Poet Laureate Rita Dove, and Garnett Library Director of Library Services Sylvia Kuhlmeier holds copies of The Secret Names by the late Michael Burns, former Missouri State University professor and director of the creative writing program in Springfield and Under the Sycamore by Missouri State-West Plains per course faculty member Dave Malone. The books are on display in the special/rare books collection, and additional copies of several of the books are available for circulation. (Missouri State-West Plains Photo)
