MEMBERS OF THE Missouri State University-West Plains Enactus student organization, formerly Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE), partnered with child and family development (CFD) program students in CFD Associate Professor Dr. Renee Moore’s classes and the West Plains Chiropractic Association to provide birthday boxes to shelters in Howell County, including the Martha Vance Samaritan Outreach Center, Christos House, and Agape House. Officials explained families living in a shelter are frequently unable to celebrate their child’s birthday, so the birthday boxes provide the essentials for the celebration. Boxes include cake mix and frosting, festive plates and napkins, a tablecloth, cups, and an age and gender appropriate toy. The Chiropractic Association provided funds to purchase the containers, and the CFD students donated the contents.
