WEST PLAINS, Mo. – “Listening to Your Business” is the topic of seminar set for 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, in the board room at the Ozarks Small Business Incubator (OzSBI), 408 Washington Ave., in West Plains.
Darrell Hampsten, coordinator of Missouri State University-West Plains’ Small Business & Technology Development Center (SBTDC), will be the instructor. Hampsten said this is the first time the course has been offered locally.
“This course will help you evaluate and measure your business strategies,” Hampsten said. “Specifically designed for entrepreneurs, this workshop will help you answer the question, ‘Where do I want my business to go, and how do I make it happen?’”
During the three-hour workshop, students will identify a strategic vision for their business, determine an appropriate plan of action, prioritize and formalize transaction steps, and develop a transition plan to grow their business, he said.
Hampsten said the seminar, developed by the Kauffman Foundation, will take students through some major questions successful entrepreneurs ask themselves:
• Where is my business today?
• What stage is my business in?
• In what stage would I like my business to be three years from now?
• What transitions will I, as the entrepreneur, need to make?
• How do I get my business from today to my three-year vision?
The cost is $35 per person, and the deadline to register is Jan. 24. Class size is limited, so those interested in attending are encouraged to register as soon as possible, Hampsten stressed.
