OVER 200 AREA RESIDENTS, dignitaries and community leaders gathered with members of the David Gohn family of West Plains, the Virginia Gohn Sapp family of St. Louis, and officials from Missouri State University and Missouri State-West Plains today to celebrate the grand opening of Gohn Hall on the West Plains campus. Gohn, a long-time banker, and his sister, Sapp, a long-time public educator, donated their family home to the campus to provide a permanent home for Missouri State’s growing Outreach Program, which offers graduate and undergraduate degrees in a variety of disciplines locally. Significant contributions from the family, coupled with funds from the Springfield and West Plains campuses, made the $2 million construction/renovation project possible. Cutting the ribbon above are Sapp and Gohn. Looking on are Peter Hofherr, front row left, of St. James, the 8th Congressional District representative on the university’s Board of Governors; Missouri State-West Plains Chancellor Drew Bennett, front row right; and members of the Gohn and Sapp families gathered behind.
