EVERYONE IS INVITED to the eighth annual tree lighting ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, in Lybyer Technology Center at Missouri State University-West Plains. This free event, sponsored by the Future Alumni Organization (FAO), rings in the holiday season on campus, organizers said. Chancellor Drew Bennett will welcome guests, Grizz, the university’s athletics mascot, will make an appearance, and hand-made ornaments by students from the university’s various student organizations will be placed on the tree. In addition, the West Plains Elementary School choir will lead those attending in caroling. Cookies and hot cocoa also will be served. With two of the university’s 50th anniversary ornaments are sophomore FAO member Emily Pummill, left, and sophomore FAO vice president Kimberly Allen. Both are from Mtn. View.
