WEST PLAINS, Mo. – The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis’ Imaginary Theatre Company (ITC) will bring its production of “The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe” to the West Plains Civic Center for a 7 p.m. performance Friday, Feb. 21.
General admission tickets are $5 each and available at the civic center box office, 110 St. Louis St., between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays. Children age 13 and under will be admitted free. Partial funding for this production, sponsored by Missouri State University-West Plains’ University/Community Programs (U/CP) Department, is being provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
C.S. Lewis’ classic magical journey comes to life in this unique, imaginative touring adaptaion, organizers said. When a game of hide-and-seek sends Lucy into the darkness of an old wardrobe, she steps into a secret world full of mystical creatures and an evil witch bent on ruling all. If she is ever to get back home, Lucy must band together with her siblings and their newfound friends to bring peace back to the enchanted world of Narnia.
“The Imaginary Theatre Company brought ‘The Tortoise and the Hare’ here in January, and it was a huge success,” said Emily Gibson, theater and events coordinator for the U/CP Department. “We’re excited to be bringing them back for this fabulous production of ‘The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe.’ We appreciate the support of the Missouri Arts Council in helping us bring these great live performances to our young audiences here in West Plains. I hope that everyone takes the opportunity to use these experiences to introduce children to live theater.
