WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Twenty-six teams filled the arena of the West Plains Civic Center on Jan. 23 for the 13th annual Trivia Night benefitting Grizzly Athletics at Missouri State University-West Plains. The event was hosted by the Grizzly Booster Club.

Organizers said that volunteers make the event successful, and they pointed out more than 200 trivia buffs took part in answering 10 rounds of questions.

For the third year in a row, the team from Missouri Public Defenders Office took home the event’s traveling trophy. Team members consisted of Jodi Hoopes, Katey Hoopes, Maurice Brewer, Bryce Crowley, Donna Anthony, Cansas Bell, Jeff Waltemate and Tom Sheridan.

Second place went to the team from Missouri State-West Plains’ University/Community Programs (U/CP) Department, which consisted of Jody Robinson, Sally Robinson, Bronwen Madden, Jennifer Moore, Jack Bates, Brenda Polyard, Keri Elrod and Kris Bates.

Third place went to the SOMO Chiropractic team of Aubrey Johnson, Clay Johnson, Stephanie Johnson, Chase Johnson, Susie Ray, Paul Hoover, Julie Hart and Trenton Eades.

Trivia teams also competed in a table-decorating contest. First place went to the “Constructing Answers” team. Members included Bob Leonard, Zach McNett, Drew Bennett, Elizabeth Bennett, Brandy Freidt, Tony Freidt, Jordan McNett and Rhonda Jones.

Second place in the table-decorating contest went to the “Super Smash Brothers” team, also known as the Grizzly Cheer Team. Team members included Brittany Farias, Bobbi Taylor, Colt Tompkins, Lance Parker, Mackenzie Lamb, Nick Pruitt, Mike Driscoll and Miranda Donnelly.

Each member of the teams received a gift bag of prizes, organizers said.

A 50/50 giveaway also was held and was won by Casey Buehler, West Plains, president of the Missouri State-West Plains Student Government Association. He received $566.50, organizers said.
