WEST PLAINS MAYOR JACK PAHLMANN recently signed and presented a proclamation to members of Missouri State University-West Plains TRiO Student Support Services program designating Feb. 27 as National TRiO Day of Service in West Plains. The day is designed for TRiO students to show their appreciation for the community’s support of the program by giving back to the community. Missouri State-West Plains TRiO students will volunteer at the local Habitat for Humanity Restore Shop on Feb. 27 to do general work at the store and help build a playhouse that will be given away at the local home and garden show March 4 and 5. They also will volunteer at the show in a variety of capacities. On Feb. 27, they will pick up trash on campus, and on March 2, they will host a TRiO Trivia booth in Lybyer Technology Center on campus to provide students with information about the program in a fun format. On hand for the proclamation presentation were, from left, TRiO students Alicia Brown and Niasia Davis, both of St. Louis; TRiO Academic Specialist Kathy Mann; student Allen Koch, West Plains; TRiO Administrative Assistant Vickie Petkovic; students Timothy Noakes, Pomona, Jessica Jenkins, Birch Tree, and Rachel Overturf, Gainesville; Pahlmann; student Michael Trout, West Plains; and TRiO Coordinator Mary Kellum.
