WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Twenty-eight teams filled the arena of the West Plains Civic Center on Jan. 28 for the 14th annual Trivia Night benefitting Grizzly Athletics at Missouri State University-West Plains. The event was hosted by the Grizzly Booster Club.
More than 220 trivia buffs took part in answering 10 rounds of questions, organizers said, adding volunteers make the event successful.
A team full of long-time supporters of Grizzly Athletics and Trivia Night took home the traveling trophy this year. Members included Judy Carr, Amber Carr, Ethan Porter, Emma Ray, Becca Ray, Josh Ray, Melinda Ray and David Ray.
Second place went to the self-proclaimed “Science Wing Nuts” team of Tom Cooper, Lenny Eagleman, Natalie Brazeal, Kevin Antrim, Donna Antrim, Sheila Decker, Jennifer Randolph and Jack Randolph.
Third place went to the team from Missouri State-West Plains’ University/Community Programs (U/CP) Department. Members included Paul Domingo, Bronwen Madden, Jennifer Moore, Sally Robinson, Keri Elrod, Brenda Polyard, Jack Bates and Kris Bates.
Trivia teams also competed in a table decorating contest. First place went to the “iCloud 4 Answers” team of John Tollenear, Jesse Rhodes, Jessica Neese, Elizabeth Bennett, Drew Bennett, Reid Grigsby, Tracey Grigsby and Mary Louise Tollenear.
Second place in the table decorating contest went to the “Tee It Up” team of Jason Robbins, Melissa Robbins, Kristi Landsdown, Doug Landsdown, Dan Petrus, Amy Petrus, Tracy Finley and Gary Johnson.
Each member of the winning teams in the trivia and table decorating contests received a gift bag of prizes, organizers said.
A 50/50 giveaway also was held and was won by William and Nicki Wood, Stockton. They received $422, organizers said.
Coordinators also said they would like to thank the many area businesses and individuals who served as category, food and prize sponsors.
