Coordinator of Veteran Services
“I tell people I get to come to work and see my friends every day.”
What services does the Veterans Services office provide students?
Veteran Services helps with V.A. paperwork, including helping them apply for their benefits and requesting copies of any paperwork we’re required to have on file. I’m also their academic adviser, because I have to assure the V.A. they’re taking classes only within their degree program. We try to be a one-stop shop here, and this applies to veterans, their spouses and their dependents who are using V.A. benefits. We also assist with FAFSA filing. And the help we provide isn’t limited to academics. If you’re having a problem, come to me and we’ll figure out what we can do to help.
What do you find most rewarding about working at Missouri State-West Plains?
What’s most rewarding are my students and their success. I tell people I get to come to work and see my friends every day.
What advice would you give a student about succeeding academically in college?
Go to class, do your homework. And if you need help, we provide that here also. Tutoring is one of the many services we provide.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In the wintertime I read, and in the summertime I grow my vegetable garden.
