Why did you choose to attend Missouri State-West Plains?
I choose Missouri State-West Plains because it was close to home and because of the close-knit community here on campus.
How would you describe your experience here?
I have been overwhelmed by the warm inclusive atmosphere here at Missouri State-West Plains. Every professor I have had has worked to make my experience here successful! Whether it has been returning my e-mails or scheduling appointments to answer my questions, they make every effort to provide their students with the highest quality of education.
What has been your favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains?
I love the smaller campus and the friendly staff! Missouri State-West Plains is a campus where you do not get lost in the shuffle.
What has been your favorite course?
That’s a tough question because I have really enjoyed so many of them. I guess if I had to pick a favorite it would be CFD 297 – Internship Planning and Implementing Curriculum for Child Development Centers.
How have faculty and staff helped you during your time at Missouri State-West Plains?
Teachers know you by name and remember you. I have really been impressed with the level of professionalism from teachers and office staff at Cass Hall. Everyone here goes the extra mile to help you succeed!
How did you choose your major?
I decided on my major based on my desire to work with families.
What have you learned from the Child and Family Development Department that will help you succeed in your education, career or life?
I have learned so much from being a part of the Child and Family Development Department! From implementing curriculum to hands-on lab experience, you receive a full range of educational experience to prepare you for this field. I have also had the opportunity to make connections with professionals in this field, which have provided me opportunities to gain more knowledge and open doors for job opportunities.
What are your plans after graduation?
I hope to work in the Parents as Teachers program in this area. I look forward to applying my skills and knowledge to help children and families in my community.
