WEST PLAINS, Mo. – If you’re looking for a new job or an opportunity to change your career, make plans to attend a career/job fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 19 at Missouri State University-West Plains’ Student Recreation Center, 323 W. Trish Knight St., in West Plains.
This free event, hosted by Missouri State University-West Plains, the Missouri Job Center and the South Central Human Resources Association, will feature information about a variety of educational and job opportunities, as well as service agencies that can help you reach your career goals, organizers said.
“We have had a great response from the business community, and our event will be well attended,” said Sheila Barton, career manager at Missouri State-West Plains. “We have representation from a great mix of businesses, including manufacturing, city government, timber products, health care, agriculture and more.”
“Everyone who is looking for a job in this area needs to attend the job fair on April 19,” added Teri Ebel, business services coordinator at the Missouri Job Center. “Employers will be on site looking to fill open positions. If job seekers have questions about preparing for the event or would like help putting together a resumé, please visit the Missouri Job Center.”

PROGRAM FOR VETERANS
Steve McCann, veterans representative at the the Missouri Job Center, will conduct a Work-Ready Employment Assistance Program (WREAP) for veterans at 1 p.m. during the fair. This program will help veterans translate their existing military skills into the civilian workforce.
Those planning to attend the fair are encouraged to dress professionally, bring 10 to 15 copies of their resumé, allow time to talk with company representatives, prepare a brief summary of their skills, and be ready to ask any questions they may have.
