“Missouri State University-West Plains helped me accomplish my goals by offering all the necessities I needed.”
Cody Skidmore believes his success was nearly guaranteed by attending Missouri State University-West Plains.
“Being able to be part of a small campus gave me opportunities to really dive in and learn more,” he said.
His career options were practically endless because of the many available degrees, he explained, and qualified faculty who have a passion for their respective fields made learning that much more exciting.
“I didn’t have to fight to ask questions or to get extra help. Everyone was willing to help. I wasn’t just another number in a seat,” Skidmore said.
He also credits Missouri State-West Plains with making him more confident. Through his deep investment and involvement in the campus, he grew as a leader.
“Student Ambassadors was one of my favorite organizations to be a part of while at Missouri State-West Plains,” he said. “We helped bring students to the campus who, at one point, may have never thought of attending. They could see the passion we had for the small, but great, campus, and they wanted to be part of it in the future.”
“Get involved. It makes college more enjoyable, and you do better in your classes when you branch out, make a positive impact on the community and campus, and meet new people. Have fun, stay focused, and find your passion.”
The growing diversity of Missouri State-West Plains helped Skidmore and others in his classes discover themselves and their passions without fear of being judged.
