Assistant Professor of Nursing
BSN, Nursing, University of Missouri
MSN, Nursing, Missouri State University
What made you decide to specialize in nursing?
I wanted to help people.
What was your favorite course in college and why?
OB nursing, because it really is miraculous, helping a new life enter the world. And now, one of the courses I teach is OB nursing, so it feels like it has come full circle!
What do you find most rewarding about teaching?
The students. Hands-down, students are the very best thing about my job. It is rewarding to see them achieve their goals.
What advice would you give current students or prospective students?
You may have to give up life as you know it while in nursing school, but it will be worth it. It takes a lot of dedication and self-discipline.
What would you say to a student interested in pursuing a career in nursing?
Nursing is a great profession. The career opportunities are so broad, that you can change your career path or location, and still be a nurse. Knowing at the end of your day that you helped people is rewarding.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
What’s that? LOL! My students know I like to bake, as they are often the recipients of baked treats!
