“Every faculty and staff member shows they are here to help you succeed.”
Why did you choose to attend Missouri State-West Plains?
I received a volleyball scholarship, I could use my A+, it is close to home, they have a great nursing program, and I have always only heard great things about this university.
How would you describe your experience here?
It has been great! All of the instructors are willing to help in any way they can, there is free tutoring available at almost any time you need it, every faculty and staff member shows they are here to help you succeed, and there are plenty of activities and clubs you can get involved in that make the experience that much greater.
What has been your favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains?
I got involved in Christian Campus House. All the people in that club have become my long-lost family, and I love each of them so much! They challenge me to become a better Christian, they are always there for me when I need it, and they are great company. I would encourage everyone to at least check it out because it is amazing!
What has been your favorite course?
Currently, my favorite course is PLS 101-01 (American Democracy and Citizenship) with Dr. Kathleen Morrison. Everything you learn in this course plays an extremely important role in today’s society. Even though the class is slightly tough, Dr. Morrison is an incredible instructor and is willing to work with you if you need it.
How have faculty and staff helped you during your time at Missouri State-West Plains?
All of the faculty and staff have helped me succeed. They are all willing to work with me if I have a problem or a question, and they are always very nice and respectful in any situation.
How did you choose your major?
I have a great passion to help people in any way I can, and I believe that becoming a nurse is a great way to fulfill that passion.
What have you learned from the nursing department that will help you succeed in your education, career or life?
I am not in the nursing program yet, but I am prepping for it so I am kind of in the pre-nursing program. In all the courses I have to take, the instructors help me with time management, planning, and to really rely on my Savior, Jesus Christ. There are many times when I feel really overwhelmed and that I have failed, but knowing that I am loved, forgiven and protected by Jesus Christ shows me the Truth that what truly matters is eternity with Him and not so much the superficial things that are here on earth. This program brings many difficult challenges, but knowing that Jesus has overcome reassures me that He is here to help in any situation.
What are your plans after graduation?
After I graduate, I will have my RN and will possibly go on to further my education and get my BSN. During this time, I will put my skills to work in a hospital, if that is God’s will. If it is not, I will end up wherever He takes me.
