Five students from the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) business club at Missouri State University-West Plains took part in competitions at the PBL State Leadership Conference.
The conference took place April 13 at Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield.
Angelia Ashberger, West Plains, placed first in a very competitive hospitality management category. Her placement qualifies her for competition at the PBL National Leadership Conference June 24-27 in San Antonio, Texas.
Whitney Haynie, Forsyth, placed third in future business executive and fourth in job interview.
Alexander Cochran, West Plains, placed fourth in impromptu speaking, and Mark Kharitonov, Willow Springs, placed fourth in microeconomics.
Ashberger, Haynie, Cochran and PBL chapter president Cynthia Peak, Willow Springs, attended the conference with faculty adviser Dr. Ed Birdyshaw.
Birdyshaw noted Kharitonov’s competition consisted of an online test.
In addition to the competitions, students attended workshops on business and professionalism.
Students from colleges all across Missouri competed at the PBL State Leadership Conference, Birdyshaw said.Â
