Angelia Ashberger, West Plains, a member of the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) student business organization at Missouri State University-West Plains, placed second in the nation in hospitality management at the organization’s national leadership conference June 24-27 in San Antonio, Texas.
Ashberger qualified for the competition by placing first in that category at the PBL State Leadership Conference this past spring.
She also qualified to participate in the advertising and accounting principles competitions at the conference.
The conference, which had the theme “Create Lead Inspire,” included 63 competitive events as part of its National Awards Program.
Students also attended workshops, presentations and state delegation meetings during the conference at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, and they toured several San Antonio attractions.
PBL is the collegiate arm of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), a career and technical student organization headquartered in Reston, Virginia.
The organization has chapters in middle schools, high schools and colleges across the country. Nationwide, over 230,000 students are listed as members.
