Academic Program: Associate of Science in Pre-Engineering

Hometown: St. Louis

Why did you choose to attend Missouri State-West Plains?

I chose Missouri State-West Plains because of the Pre-Engineering program.

How would you describe your experience here?

I would describe my experience here as exciting and amazing.

What has been your favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains?

My favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains is the different organizations we offer, and different leadership roles.

What has been your favorite course?

My favorite course has been Chemistry 161 (General Chemistry I laboratory).

How have faculty and staff helped you during your time at Missouri State-West Plains?

The faculty and staff have helped me so much here. An example is that I can talk to my professors about my grade if I start to see it decreasing. They sometimes give you different resources and opportunities to help get your grade up.

How did you choose your major?

I chose my major when I was a freshmen in high school. I decided that I really liked both math and science, so I looked at the different jobs you can do that requires both, and I chose engineering. I knew what type of engineering I wanted to do when I was in my chemistry class in high school, and we mixed chemicals together, which I thought was really fun. After that, I decided that I wanted to be a chemical engineer.

What have you learned from the Pre-Engineering Department that will help you succeed in your education, career or life?

The Pre-Engineering Department is getting me ready for the real engineering program that is more in depth.

What are your plans after graduation?

My plans after graduation is to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia, where my major will be Chemical Engineering.
