Matherly, Webb named 2020 Grizzly Homecoming Queen, King

Alyssa Matherly, Cabool, and Ezekiel Webb, Ellsinore, were crowned the 2020 Grizzly Homecoming Queen and King, respectively, Saturday at Missouri State University-West Plains’ annual homecoming basketball game at the West Plains Civic Center.

The crowning took place during halftime activities in Joe Paul Evans Arena at the civic center. They were crowned by the 2019 Grizzly Homecoming King and Queen, Jon Petroski, West Plains, and Lyndsey Parker, Salem.

Matherly and Webb were both sponsored by Christian Campus House.

The game pitted the Grizzlies against Moberly Area Community College. The Grizzlies narrowly lost 97-102.

Members of the homecoming court gathered for receptions with Grizzly fans prior to the homecoming game and following the crowning of the king and queen.

Members of the court included queen candidates:

  • Ashlyn Williams, Morrisville, sponsored by Student Ambassadors;
  • Paige Rollins, Edgar Springs, sponsored by the Grizzly Cheer Team;
  • Kaylee Liley, Berryville, Arkansas, sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA);
  • Braylin Shelton, Salem, sponsored by the Agriculture Club.

King candidates included:

  • Christian Hirsch, Thayer, sponsored by the Student Ambassadors;
  • Jamal Shaddid, St. Louis, sponsored by the Grizzly Cheer Team;
  • Gabe Ivins, Willow Springs, sponsored by the SGA;
  • Dalton Sanders, Salem, sponsored by the Agriculture Club.
