Academic Advisor, Advisement and Academic Coaching Center for Empowering Student Success (AACCESS)

What services does AACCESS provide to students?

We work with students to create and clarify their respective educational goals, we develop detailed educational plans for the students’ time at Missouri State University-West Plains and work to ensure they meet all prerequisites for a smooth transition to their transfer school. Through proactive and appreciative advising, we meet with students throughout the semester to assist with overcoming obstacles.

What do you find most rewarding about working at Missouri State-West Plains?

The most rewarding part of working at Missouri State-West Plains is working with professionals who derive happiness from assisting students in finding their passion, finding themselves and seeing students achieve their goals during their time here. As a proud Grizzly alumnus, I understand that the roots these students plant will be the foundations of their success throughout the rest of their academic and professional journeys. Wherever I go, whatever I do, I WILL ALWAYS BE A PROUD GRIZZLY!

What advice would you give a current student about succeeding academically in college?

Meet with your advisor as soon as possible, then meet with your advisor often throughout the semester. We enjoy getting to know you, seeing you learn, grow, and become independent, but we also enjoy celebrating your milestones and accomplishments with you!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Anyone who knows me or meets me understands I enjoy the outdoors – fishing, floating, hiking but above all, I enjoy traveling with my family across the globe judging, staffing and watching my daughter compete in Pokémon!
