“My experience (at Missouri State-West Plains) can be described as one filled with new experiences and meeting all kinds of new people.”

Academic Program: Agriculture Education

Hometown: West Plains, Missouri

Why did you choose to attend Missouri State-West Plains?

I chose Missouri State-West Plains because it gave me the opportunity to get a degree while staying home. I loved the campus and everyone on it. It made me feel like there was no transition from high school to college.

How would you describe your experience here?

My experience can be described as one filled with new experiences and meeting all kinds of new people. It has been positive, and I cannot wait to see what the next three semesters have to offer.

What has been your favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains?

My favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains is the people I get to meet and how, even though it is a small-town community college, I still meet new people every time I set foot on campus.

What has been your favorite course?

I love my history class. I love learning about the events that have happened over the years, and the instructor makes it super easy and enjoyable.

How have faculty and staff helped you during your time at Missouri State-West Plains?

During the last eight months, faculty have been extremely easy to get along with. They made my first semester and a half enjoyable and worked around my extremely busy schedule. They have always been there to answer questions and help out in any way they can.

How did you choose your major?

I chose my major after spending my high school career in the agriculture building and being heavily involved in FFA. I saw my passion for the organization and wanted to be able to share the same experiences with other high school students.

What have you learned at Missouri State-West Plains that will help you succeed in your education, career or life?

I have learned skills that I will later have to use in my everyday life to help me teach others. While I have not started taking many classes related to agriculture, the few that I have taken have shown me these valuable skills.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to attend Arkansas State University in Jonesboro to finish my degree and then come back to the West Plains area to teach high school classes.
