“The writing and tutoring labs help you if you have absolutely no idea what you are doing.”

Academic Program: Associate of Arts in General Studies

Hometown: Deering, Missouri

Why did you choose to attend Missouri State-West Plains?

It was close to family, and Missouri State-West Plains accepts A+. I have come to find out that West Plains is the friendliest place for me to spend my college years.

How would you describe your experience here?

My experience is very worthwhile. The people are nice here. West Plains sure did have open arms when I moved here four hours away from home.

What has been your favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains?

My favorite thing would have to be the community and my friends. It feels like I know everybody here, and I can assure you I do not, but the community makes it feel as if you were their own. My friends have made this my favorite place. When I visit home, I’m ready to come back and see my friends.

What has been your favorite course?

My favorite course is MTH 112 (College Algebra Preparation II) with Jerry Trick. I guess you can call me a math nerd.

How have faculty and staff helped you during your time at Missouri State-West Plains?

They have been nice and welcoming and were willing to do whatever it takes to solve my problems or answer questions I may have.

How did you choose your major?

I chose my major because of my father’s career footsteps. He was an educator who just earned his doctorate degree before he passed away. I just want to finish something that he didn’t get to finish. I also love helping children reach new goals and learn new talents they never thought they would have potential to have.

What have you learned from Missouri State-West Plains that will help you succeed in your education, career or life?

The writing and tutoring labs can help you if you have absolutely no idea what you are doing.

What are your plans after graduation?

My plans are to attend Missouri State University to get my bachelor’s degree in secondary education and major in mathematics.
