Come out for an evening of fun for the whole family when officials with Missouri State University-West Plains’ (MSU-WP) University/Community Programs (U/CP) Department hosts Halloween Movie Night Friday, Oct. 29, at the West Plains Civic Center theater.
U/CP Theater and Events Coordinator Hannah Salvesen said families will be treated to a free showing of “The House With a Clock in Its Walls,” a PG-rated movie featuring Jack Black and Cate Blanchett.
The classic film, she said, tells the tale of a boy’s search for a magical clock in a house owned by his uncle, who just happens to be a warlock. The story, she added, is one that parents, teens and children will enjoy.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the movie will begin at 7.
More fun activities
Movie goers will need to brave their way through a small “spook alley” as they enter and exit the theater, Salvesen said.
Following the film, those attending will receive a free goody bag that can be filled with treats from volunteers in costume, she added.
In addition, a backdrop with professional lighting will be available for families to take fun Halloween-themed pictures.
“This is a great way for families to celebrate Halloween,” Salvesen said. “We’re thrilled to be hosting an event that the whole family can enjoy.”
Movie goers are encouraged to wear campus appropriate Halloween costumes. They cannot include weapons or excessive gore, however, Salvesen said.
